And just to show that I can do more than whine late at night. Then here are two of the songs that have kept me going for the last weeks - for some mysterious reason the songs from Cabaret and Mary Poppins have been stuck in my head lately and for my own sanity (probably not my neigbours' though) I keep on playing them on youtube. It's been years since I saw either of those films, but by checking IMdB I noticed that the actor that plays Harry Klein in Derrick has a role in Cabaret.
Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey singing Money from Cabaret - when watching those two it's obvious why they both got an Oscar.
And Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins, singing Feed the Birds.
Monday morning feels so bad, Ev'rybody seems to nag me Coming tuesday I feel better, Even my old man looks good, Wednesday just don't go, Thursday goes too slow, I've got Friday on my mind
Today I've decided is my no nagging day. I feel like I have done too much of that for the past few days. I'm so easy minded today that I didn't find it one bit weird reading a book where a zombie-dinosaur appeared.
Does sitting by a nice cozy fire, with a cup of hot tea/chocolate, and a book you can read for hours even when your eyes grow red and dry and you look sort of scary sitting there with your insomniac appearance? Then you fit this category perfectly! You love the power of the written word and it's eloquence; and you may like to read/write poetry or novels. You contribute to the smart people of today's society, however you can probably be overly-critical of works.
Once again Eurovision gets closer. And I think our entry this year is almost the worst ever. So here behind the cut is the "classic" video to it and if you're curious about the lyrics they're below - such a "masterpiece". The sad part - as much as I dislike it I'll be rooting for it come May and be bummed when it doesn't get any points. ( Read more... )
I found this test: right or left brained? at Kimuro's. I tried it and I have to say that although the results are fairly accurate, I find it spooky to be 100% left brained - I feel like I'm a bit out of some loop :o/
No matter how he turned out in his later years, there are few cooler than pre-army Elvis. This song is remarkable for at least two things.
1. This was apparantly the first song, to which a special music video was aired (this is a scene from a movie with the same name - but was also shown on tv without referring to the movie) 2. This was also the first song where mentions of same sex relationship were mentioned; "Number 47 said to number 3 - You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see. I'd surely be delighted with your company, come on and do the jailhouse rock with me."
I'm watching the Baftas and I miss Stephen Fry a lot - his voice/accent is so beautiful and dry witted that the new presenter doesn't stand a chance. The script is ok but I can't help but imagine how much funnier it'd be if Stephen was the presenter.
And where are all the winners? There have been very few acceptance speeches tonight.
Behind the cut there is a list of dictionary-translated expressions. I dare the foreigners on here to guess what they're supposed to mean - meanwhile the Icelanders have something to laugh at ;o) ( Read more... )
I've just seen Casino Royale. And Daniel Craig doesn't look anything like I picture mr. Bond. But as far as I am concerned he's allowed to play him for a couple of more movies - he's easy on the eyes and have the necessary charm. Judy Dench is as always perfect for the role of M, or any role for that matter - can't imagine her acting badly whatever role she's playing. And I felt sorry for the bloodcrying bad guy :o/
It was a wise move using the first book Ian Fleming wrote as the basis of the script - although the introduction situations confused many. Oh and for those who don't know - then according to some sources the person Fleming based Bond on was Icelandic :o)
ETA When googling pictures of Daniel Craig as James Bond this was on the first page. An interesting view considering that he has promised to do a nude scene if they make Bond gay in the next movie ;p
